Drawing on ancient and recent music, liturgy, and prayers, St Brendan’s weaves together a service that gives space to sing, meditate, pray, experience, worship. This Anglican character to our gatherings of praise, confession, intercession, scripture, teaching, and communion recurs in some form each week.

"… in particular, we are all invited - summoned, actually - to discover, through following Jesus, that this new world is indeed a place of justice, spirituality, relationship, and beauty, and that we are not only to enjoy it as such but to work at bringing it to birth on earth as in heaven"

Simply Christian

Most importantly, we know that worship is not about us. Worship is focused on God, who lavishes us with love and grace. So, when we worship, we bring our confessions – not because we’re trying to clear the slate to get into heaven, but because we want to remove all that inhibits our relationship with the Father.

When we worship, we approach the Table – not because that’s what everyone else is doing, but because we deeply desire the sustenance that Christ’s body provides. At St Brendan’s, the Communion Table is open to all baptized Christians who desire to follow Jesus. If you want to become a Christian, talk to someone in the community; if you want to be baptized, talk to Fr. Richard. If you are a Christian, you are welcome to celebrate with us.

As we pursue the Divine Life, all that we are, say, and do are acts of worship. When we worship, we set aside ourselves and show love. As one body we try to honor each other above ourselves, respecting and embracing diverse experiences, styles, and expressions of the Father’s face.

When we worship we care for the poor – not just because they need us to, but because we need them. They bring perspective, insight about God and humanity, they remind us all of our need for grace.

When we worship, we give of our own assets and income – not because the church needs the money, but because we want to offer some of the best things we have to our God.

There is always room for community members to join in leading pieces of the service – whether through reading scripture, leading prayers, playing a musical instrument, or offering your voice. Share your interest by contacting Fr Richard or Roy Wright.
