What to Expect

A sense of community and belonging is at our core. The best way to begin getting to know us is to join us for worship on Sunday evenings.

We meet weekly on Sundays at 5:00 pm. All gather together to begin worship as a community. After an opening prayer together, our young members are invited to go upstairs for nursery or Godly Play as adults continue in the worship service. Children rejoin their families in the service to participate together in the Eucharist and closing prayer.

Adult Worship
St. Brendan’s in the City is a part of the Anglican Church in North America and our beliefs and service style reflect this.

Our worship service lasts around 1 hour and 15 minutes and generally follows the Anglican liturgy. “Liturgy” means the order and pattern of our service, which includes prayer, song, scripture reading, a message from our Rector or other community members, and communion.  The Eucharist is served weekly and all are welcome to participate.

Children’s Worship
All children are welcome to join us upstairs to worship with their peers guided by volunteers trained to support their needs and interests. We are committed to the safety and care of our children and follow the child-protection policies of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic.

Nursery
Children under 3 are welcomed to our nursery for a safe place to play, receive a snack, and spend time with other young journeyers in faith.

Godly Play
Children over 3 may join us in Godly Play, a Montessori style opportunity to explore Bible stories and the church calendar with curiosity and wonder. Children are offered a playful and interactive story time, music, activity time, a craft, and a snack.
